I originally researched this family trying to find a link between Nehemiah and William Trahern, but only found the link between Nehemiah's son and William's great granddaughter. The family has a legend that the Trahern''s descend from two brothers, James and John, who came to America, the descendants of one family were Quakers. This family was a Quaker family, but all got kicked out at one time or another. Where William comes from is not known, but the possibility of a link between either William or Nehemiah and the Trahearne's of Somerset exist. The genealogy is listed on a seperate tree. One of the sons, John disappears in records, and his descendants aren' t listed. It is my hope to connect one or the other of these families to this one eventually.

Sarah Trahern shows up in the census of 1820 as a separate household in Loudon Co., Va. In 1850, she is in her son's home in West VA. In 1860, and 1870, mariah and James are listed as separate households. I suspect that this is the family of James Trahern, but, I don't know it for sure, so I have not included them on the same page.

Autobiography of William Eustace states he was an engineer and owned a whole block in Natchez, that for some reason Sarah Timbury inherited, not Mariah and Sarah. Evidently she raised them, and was nice to William E., but his Aunt and Mother had said she was mean.

Autobiography of William Eustace mentions an Aunt of Mariah's named Elvina Magruder, who had four children, Hattie, Eliza, Sue, and William. Eliza married a Mr. Bird of MS. A relative by name of John Magruder was called "Uncle John." He also mentions an uncle of Mariah's named John Walker who offered her a and the boys a home in Arkansas. The obituary for Harriet mentions a sister, so she may be Elvina Magruder, and Walker may be the maiden name?
