Genealogy research, especially in the Choctaw nation, proves the adage it is really a small world after all. While my direct line is simple, the relationship the family has with others is a complex mesh of alliances between key families. It isn't until the end of the 1800's that an influx of new families appears. As most of these families are related, and many had members who were among the prominent leaders within the Choctaw nation, a discussion of the relationship my gggggrandfather James N. Trahern, and his wife, Sarah Hall had to these families will follow.

James N. Trahern was the son of Peggy Trahern, nephew to Choctaw Chief's Oklahoma, Nitakechi, and Tappenhoma. He was the great nephew of Chief Pushmataha. Phoebe Juzan was also his Aunt or his cousin, she may be the daughter of Oklahoma, and was the second wife of Charles Juzan.

James N. Trahern was the half sibling of Pierre Juzan, Mary Juzan, Jackson Juzan, William Juzan, Rebecca Juzan, Lucy Juzan, and Eliza Ann Juzan, children of Peggy, his mother, and her first husband Charles Juzan. Their half siblings, Ramona Juzan, Narcissa Juzan, and Sybil Juzan were James' first cousins once removed, children of Charles Juzan and Phoebe.

Sarah Hall was the daughter of William Hall. While not much is known about William Hall, there are several other Hall's that could have been his brothers and sisters. Sarah's mother was Susan Riddle. Sarah's siblings were Jane Hall, Margaret Hall, Catherine Hall, Joseph Hall, Silas Hall, Louisa Hall, Robert Hall, Jackson Hall, and Martha Hall. Sarah Hall had two Aunt's, Sarah Hall Gardner and Margaret Hall Ring Geary.
