Very little is known about Claude Hagar. Sometimes the spelling of the last name is Hager. My grandfather was born May 7, 1925 in Cardin, Oklahoma to Claude Hagar and Pauline Adams. They had been married in Picher in August of 1924. In March of 1929 Claude was convicted of murder. His sentence was the death penalty. He had a reprieve until August of 1929, and then began his sentence in McAllester Prison. In 1930 His sentence was commuted to life. He died March 1933 in the hospital in McAllester of throat cancer.
My grandfather was born Claudus Byron Hagar, he changed his name to Raymond Mieirs in 1950. According to some notes I found, it is possible he had two half siblings, by the name of Robert and Susan.
My grandfather went to live with his maternal grandmother at age 2 or 3. He was told his father was dead (he wasn't.) Margaret Trahern Adams, his grandmother was 1/2 Choctaw. She always told him his father was part Cherokee If this came from anyone else I may doubt it, but coming from her, I have a feeling that it is true that Claude was part indian, although I am not sure about the tribe.
My grandfather was told that Claude was born in either Fort Smith, AR or Oklahoma ca 1899.
Years after his death, my grandfather found out that his father had not died and wrote for some information.
He received a photo and records, which in anger he sent to his mother. He was so angry about finding out his father had not died until 1933 he never spoke to Pauline, who went by the name of Bonnie, again. This all accured approximately 1955. My grandmother said the picture looked just like my grandfather. Pop had a son by a previous marriage whom my mother has never met. His name is Patrick Daniel, and he was born aroung 1946.

Pauline was born just after Oklahoma statehood and was ineligibe to register on the Dawes as her three older brothers had. Pauline had a son by Melvin Tyler when she was around 15, and I somehow doubt that she was married to him. When she was 18, Pauline married Claude who lied about his age when they got married. After Claude went to prison, Pauline spent a lot of time away from her two young son's, which prompted her mother to come and take the boys home to raise. When he was around 13, my grandfather ran away from home, because Pauline's husband at the time (unknown) was beating him.
Pauline was a seamstress of exceptional quality per my grandmother. My grandmother said all Pauline had to do was look at a dress in a store window and she could go home and make it. Pauline was also an alcoholic, and married at least 4 times, probably more. She stayed with my grandparents for short time after my mother was born before leaving with her son Eugene for Illinois.
In 1956 or 1957, after receiving the information on his father, and learning that Pauline had lied to him, my grandfather never spoke to her again. He searched for years for his brother Eugene, but was never able to find him. Pauline died in Chicago, Illinois.
